South Africa has made a change to their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. Fast bowler Anrich Nortje, who has been struggling with a back injury, will not be part of the team. In his place, Corbin Bosch has been selected to join the 15-player squad for the prestigious tournament.
Anrich Nortje’s Injury
Anrich Nortje, one of South Africa’s key bowlers, has been dealing with a recurring back injury. This injury has kept him out of action since January. Despite efforts to recover, Nortje has not been able to return to full fitness in time for the Champions Trophy. As a result, he will be replaced by Corbin Bosch for the tournament.
Corbin Bosch’s Call-Up
Corbin Bosch, a talented bowling all-rounder, is the man who will step in for Nortje. Bosch is 30 years old and made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Pakistan in December 2024. In his debut match, he impressed with figures of 1 wicket for 69 runs in 9 overs. Bosch has also been performing well in domestic cricket, particularly in the SA20 league with MI Cape Town. His consistent performances in various formats have earned him a spot in South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad.
Kwena Maphaka Added as Reserve
Along with Bosch’s inclusion, fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has been added to the squad as a travelling reserve. Maphaka will provide extra cover for the fast-bowling department, ensuring South Africa has sufficient options during the tournament.
