The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday, February 12, announced three Pakistan Shaheens squads for the Champions Trophy 2025 warm-up matches. These matches will be played against Afghanistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh as part of the final preparations before the main tournament begins on February 19.
Warm-Up Matches Dates and Venues
The warm-up matches will take place after the ODI tri-nations series, running from February 14 to 17. These games will be the last chance for the teams to fine-tune their line-ups before the Champions Trophy officially begins. Unlike other ICC events, only South Africa, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and New Zealand will play warm-up matches before the tournament starts in Karachi.
Pakistan Shaheens will compete against Afghanistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh, while New Zealand will play Afghanistan in another warm-up fixture. Teams like India, England, Australia, and Pakistan will not participate in these matches as they have recently played ODI series.
The schedule for the warm-up matches is as follows:
- February 14 (Friday): Pakistan Shaheens vs Afghanistan at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
- February 16 (Sunday): New Zealand vs Afghanistan at National Stadium, Karachi
- February 17 (Monday): Pakistan Shaheens vs South Africa at National Stadium, Karachi
- February 17 (Monday): Pakistan Shaheens vs Bangladesh at ICC Cricket Academy, Dubai
Captains for Pakistan Shaheens Matches
The Pakistan Shaheens squads will have different captains for each match:
- Against Afghanistan (February 14, Lahore): Shadab Khan will lead the side.
- Against South Africa (February 17, Karachi): Mohammad Hurraira will be the captain.
