India’s journey to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has officially begun as the first batch of players departed for Dubai from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, on February 15. The squad, led by Rohit Sharma, includes key players such as Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishabh Pant. However, one notable name was missing from the group.
Team India’s First Group Departs for Champions Trophy
A strong lineup boarded the flight, with Virat Kohli among the first to be spotted at the airport. His experience and consistency make him a vital part of the squad. All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar also traveled, strengthening the team’s balance.
Wicketkeeper-batters Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul were seen alongside Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel. The spin attack will be led by Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, both of whom are included in this first batch.
Captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Hardik Pandya, and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh also joined the squad. Interestingly, Rohit was the last player to arrive at the airport before departure.

Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami to Join Later
Shubman Gill was not seen at the airport on Saturday. Along with Mohammed Shami, he is expected to fly out on Sunday, joining the rest of the squad in Dubai.
Gautam Gambhir and Coaching Staff Travel with the Team
Head coach Gautam Gambhir also departed with the squad, accompanied by his coaching staff. Bowling coach Morne Morkel, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, and fielding coach T Dilip were seen traveling together.
