ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan’s History, Squad & Schedule

After an eight-year gap, the ICC Champions Trophy is back, with Pakistan and Dubai hosting the event. Initially, Pakistan was set to be the sole host, but India’s decision not to travel led to their matches being shifted to Dubai. The agreement between the BCCI, PCB, and ICC now establishes neutral venues for future India-Pakistan encounters.

As defending champions and hosts, Pakistan has a strong position in the tournament. This article covers Pakistan’s historical performance, squad details, and schedule for the 2025 edition.

Pakistan’s Champions Trophy Journey

Pakistan has had mixed results in the Champions Trophy. The team reached the semi-finals in 1998 and 2000 but failed to progress further. In 2002 and 2004, they were eliminated in the group stage.

A revival came in 2009 when Pakistan reached the semi-finals, though they were eliminated by West Indies. The 2013 campaign was a disaster, with Pakistan losing all matches.

The breakthrough arrived in 2017, when Pakistan secured their first-ever Champions Trophy title, defeating India by 180 runs in the final.
