The BCCI has confirmed that Indian players will travel to Dubai for the Champions Trophy 2025 without their families, following the board’s updated travel policy.
BCCI’s Travel Policy for the Tournament
The Indian team departs for Dubai on February 15, with their first match against Bangladesh on February 20. Their second group-stage match against Pakistan is on February 23, followed by a game against New Zealand on March 2. All of India’s matches will be held in Dubai, while the rest of the tournament will take place across three venues in Pakistan, starting with the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19.
Since the tour lasts just over three weeks, families will not accompany the players. The BCCI’s travel policy only permits family members to join if a tour extends beyond 45 days, and even then, their stay is limited to two weeks.
A senior BCCI official stated, “Unless there is a change, players will not be accompanied by their wives or partners. A senior player inquired about this, but the board has decided to follow the policy.”
If any exceptions are made, the concerned individual will have to cover their own expenses, as the BCCI will not provide financial support for family members.
Family Presence Allowed for England Test Series
Families will, however, be allowed during the five-Test series in England from June to August. A two-week window will be designated for their stay, ensuring compliance with the board’s guidelines.
Restrictions on Personal Staff and Agents
The BCCI has also enforced restrictions on personal staff, managers, agents, and chefs accompanying players. A personal secretary of a coaching staff member, who previously stayed at the team hotel during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has been assigned to a separate facility. However, he was still present at every venue during the England home series.
The decision aims to maintain team focus and streamline travel management, ensuring players are fully prepared for the high-stakes tournament.
