Champions Trophy 2025: India May Play One Warm-Up Match Against Bangladesh or UAE

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is coming soon, and Team India is working hard to prepare for the tournament, which starts on February 19. The team is focused on giving their best performance in the competition.

Warm-Up Match in Dubai: Opponent Not Confirmed Yet

Before the tournament begins, India will play a warm-up match in Dubai. However, the team they will face has not been officially announced yet. The Champions Trophy 2025 is being hosted by Pakistan, but due to political tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan. Instead, a hybrid hosting model has been agreed upon, and all of India’s matches will be held in Dubai.

Arranging a warm-up match in Dubai is not easy. Bringing another team to Dubai just for one game would be complicated and expensive, so India’s options for a practice match are limited.

Who Will India Play in the Warm-Up Match?

Reports from Dainik Jagran suggest that the warm-up match will likely be held at the Dubai International Stadium, where all of India’s tournament matches will also take place. India is expected to play either Bangladesh or the UAE in this practice game.

Since Bangladesh is in the same group as India for the Champions Trophy, they are the most likely opponent for the warm-up match. Both teams will already be in Dubai for the tournament, making it a convenient choice. However, if an agreement with Bangladesh cannot be reached, India might play against the UAE.

Even though the UAE is not part of the Champions Trophy, they are available for a one-off warm-up match. This would give India a chance to test their strategies and make final adjustments before the tournament begins.

Key Preparations Before the Tournament

Before heading to Dubai, Team India will play a home ODI series against England starting on February 6. This series will be an important part of India’s preparation for the Champions Trophy. Although star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will miss the tournament due to injury, India is expected to field a strong squad.

India’s first match in the Champions Trophy will be against Bangladesh on February 20, followed by matches against Pakistan on February 23 and New Zealand on March 2.
